MOSCOW, April 28 (Itar-Tass) —— Ilgiz Akhmetzyanov, the former chief of a notorious Kazan police station Dalny, was detained in Tatarstan. He is suspected of beating the confession from a 20-year-old Kazan resident in 2011, spokesman for the Russian Investigation Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

Akhmetzyanov is suspected of abuse of power with the use of violence.

“The detectives found that from February 22 to February 24, 2011, criminal operatives Almaz Vasilov, Fail Sabirzyanov and the chief of the police station Dalny Ilgiz Akhmetzyanov exerted psychological pressure on the 20-year-old local resident and used the violence against him, beating the confession out of him that the latter committed acts of hooliganism,” Markin said.

The spokesman noted that Akhmetzyanov did not plead guilty.

Markin recalled that policemen Vasilov and Sabirzyanov were arrested over the investigation in the criminal case. The former officer of the police station Dalny, Denis Vasilyev, 22, was also reported to be arrested on Saturday. He is charged with abuse of power with the use of violence. In this case this is the beating of the detainee in October 2011.

The investigation into the beating case continues.

The detectives asked the court to put the former chief of the Dalny police station under arrest.

Akhmetzyanov headed the police station Dalny before the reclassification of policemen in the previous year. Col. Sergei Yefremov headed the police station after a notorious death case of detainee Sergei Nazarov after the torturing at the police station Dalny. He was fired on the orders of the Russian interior minister as a result of the service inquiry. After similar torturing cases of the suspects were exposed in the Tatar law enforcement agencies, Tatar Interior Minister Asgat Safarov was dismissed.
