MOSCOW, April 28 (Itar-Tass) —— An ex-policeman from Kazan's Dalny police station is arrested on charges of beating a local resident, a Russian Investigative Committee (SK) source told Itar-Tass.
In the investigation into the case of former policemen from the Dalny police station of the Interior Ministry's department in the Republic of Tatarstan, investigators of the SK's main department have brought a power abuse and violence charge against 22-year-old Denis Vasilyev.
The charge is brought over the case of beating of a local resident in October 2011. On October 27, a 22-year-old programmer, a Kazan resident, was asked to come to the Dalny police station to repair a computer. However, the policemen said they suspected him of stealing money in August in a flat of one of his clients.
According to the programmer, the policemen demanded he confess the theft. When he refused, they put handcuffs on his arms and began to beat him with arms and feet and then tortured him. The detained man had to give himself up and confess the crime, which he had not committed.
Ex-policeman Vasilyev is held in custody. The investigation work over the case is continuing to collect evidence.
Earlier, seven people were arrested over the criminal cases of Dalny policemen. The investigators say that the number of arrested persons over the Dalny police station cases may increase, an SK source said earlier.
