Builders complete main bridge span over bay in Vladivostok

The cable bridge across the Zolotoy Rog Bay is one of facilities, which is under construction for an APEC summit

VLADIVOSTOK, April 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The builders have completed the construction of the main bridge span over the Zolotoy Rog Bay in Vladivostok. On April 14, the last plate of the main bridge span was installed and the “golden” weld was made at a festive ceremony. Now the builders began the final stage: placement of concrete and asphalt and the development works.

The cable bridge across the Zolotoy Rog Bay is one of facilities, which is under construction for an APEC summit in Vladivostok. The cable bridge will be the backbones of the Vladivostok transport system along with the bridge to the Russky Island. Although in its parameters the cable bridge is inferior to the bridge across the Bosfor Vostochny Bay, but after the construction is over the cable bridge will become the fifth world largest cable bridge. The cable bridge will be about 1,400 meters long with the main span of 737 meters. The pylons 226 meters high are carrying the bridge span 60 meters above the water level. The cable bridge connected the centre of Vladivostok and the Pervomaisky district of the city.

The construction of two cable bridges in Vladivostok entered the final stage. Several days ago the builders completed the connection of the main span of the bridge across the Bosfor Vostochny Bay. Both bridges are to be commissioned on July 1.
