ULAN-UDE, April 26 (Itar-Tass) — Some 16 police officers from the Mogocha inter-municipal police station were disciplined for violations of the reporting of crimes in the Trans-Baikal Territory.
The detectives found that the police officers covered up the crimes from reporting, dragged out inquiries and refused illegally to open criminal cases, a source in the prosecutor’s office in the Trans-Baikal Territory told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the investigation department of the Investigation Committee in the Trans-Baikal Territory reported about the detention of two police officers from the Mogocha police station and their former colleague on suspicions of using tortures. The deputy chief of the police station and the former criminal police chief from the same police station were detained. “The investigation continues in the criminal case against four officers of the Mogocha police department and the former police officer. They are suspected of using violence and special tools against people,” the source said.
The detectives found that in 2009-2012 the suspects were torturing the Mogocha residents, forcing them confess in the crimes. Among illegal ways of interrogation practiced in this police station the policemen beat up the detainees, tortured them with the closed-oxygen-access gas masks and acetone put in the tube of the gas masks. Meanwhile, the policemen used electric shocks and tied up people tightly. Seven Mogocha residents were found as the injured parties in the criminal case.
