KIEV, April 25 (Itar-Tass) — The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has asked Germany to arrange a visit of German doctors from the Charite clinic for medical examination of ex-prime minister Yulia Timoshenko who is serving her prison term at Kachanovskaya penalty colony, spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Alexander Dikusarov told journalists on Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry officially asked Germany to help ensure a visit of German doctors from the Charite clinic for medical check-up of Yulia Timoshenko and her rehabilitation, Dikusarov said.

Earlier, the German doctors had been to Ukraine twice to examine the patient’s condition and see conditions in which the ex-prime minister was undergoing treatment. On April 14 Charite Board Chairman Karl Marx Einhaupl and Professor Norbert Haas met Timoshenko and stated that the ex-prime minister could not take part in court hearings for health reasons.

On Wednesday Yulia Timoshenko' daughter Yevgenia arrived at the Kachanovskaya colony accompanied by a group of Ukrainian deputies from the opposition to meet the ex- prime minister. Incidentally, deputies from pro- government blocs refused to go to the colony.

The opposition has demanded to meet representatives of the Prosecutor's office and the penitentiary system and called to open a criminal case into an incident of beating up the ex-prime minister.

Meanwhile, a rally in support of Yulia Timoshenko continues outside the Kachanovskaya colony.

On Tuesday representatives of the opposition invited MPs from all the parliamentary blocs with medical education to visit Timoshenko and confirm the fact of using physical force against the ex-prime minister.
