United Russia to hold congress on May 26

Venue of the congress is not known

MOSCOW, April 25 (Itar-Tass) — The United Russia General Council presidium decided to hold a party congress on May 26, Deputy Secretary of the United Russia General Council presidium Yuri Shuvalov told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

He recalled that on Tuesday chairman of the party Vladimir Putin offered to hold a congress on May 26. “The United Russia General Council presidium fixed this decision. The presidium has taken the decision needed to launch the preparations to the congress,” Shuvalov said.

Shuvalov added that the agenda of the congress was discussed as well. “The congress will discuss the issues related to the priority tasks of the party and the chairman of the party,” he noted.

As for a venue of the congress, “it is still premature” to say about it.

For his part, a member of the United Russia General Council presidium Frantz Klintsevich noted that Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev are expected to participate in the congress.
