MOSCOW, April 25 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has approved Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin as the head of the working group on missile defence cooperation with NATO, the Kremlin press service said on Wednesday.
Moreover, Medvedev signed a decree to relieve Rogozin of his post as the president’s special envoy on cooperation with NATO in missile defence.
“At the same time this means that Rogozin will continue to chair the interdepartmental working group on cooperation with NATO in missile defence under the president’s administration,” the press service said.
“As for the negotiating process with partners on this issue, it will be continued in already effective formats – through the Foreign Ministry and the Defence Ministry,” the source said.
Experts believe that the signing of the decree is linked with a growing number of duties and the president’s instructions performed by Rogozin as Deputy Prime Minister and special envoy to the Dniester region.
