Ingosstrakh pays over 50 mln rubles to Lanta Tur Voyage clients

The overall damage done to 6,300 clients has been estimated at 194.58 million rubles

MOSCOW, April 24 (Itar-Tass) — Ingosstrakh has paid over 50 million rubles to clients of the Lanta Tur Voyage tour operator, the Federal Tourism Agency said on Tuesday.

“According to an Ingosstrakh report, 50.1 million rubles had been paid to approximately 3,000 tourists of the bankrupt tour operator Lanta Tur Voyage under 1,300 claims as of April 23,” it said.

The Ingosstrakh liability limit under the contract with Lanta Tur Voyage is 100 million rubles, but the overall damage done to 6,300 clients has been estimated at 194.58 million rubles. Thus, insurance payments are being done at the 0.514 ratio.

A number of the tourists have not presented original documents to support their claims to Ingostrakh (such as vouchers, receipts and so on), the agency said. It recommended all such tourists to do that rapidly.

Lanta Tur Voyage stopped operation on January 27, 2012, after the refusal of its key creditor, Master Bank, to issue a loan of 30 million rubles. More than 3,000 Lanta Tur Voyage tourists were staying abroad at the moment, and many of them faced unpaid accommodation problems. Other clients failed to go on vacation. On February 1 VTB and Lanta Tur Voyage signed an agreement on the granting of a $7 million loan for five years so that the company could repay its debts.

Lanta Tur Voyage operated on 24 tourist destinations.
