Fire crews localize fire in central Moscow

The firefighters continue suppressing the flame that has spread to an area of 200 square meters

MOSCOW, April 23 (Itar-Tass) — Fire crews have localized a fire that erupted on Nikolskaya Street near the Lubyanka metro station downtown Moscow, a spokesperson for the Moscow branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass on Monday.

The firefighters continue suppressing the flame that has spread to an area of 200 square meters.

A fire alarm signal was received at 15:35 Moscow time on Monday after a roof grillage had gone ablaze in a five-storied building which is under renovation.

The firefighters rescued 20 people who had been trapped by smoke in the upper floors. No one was hurt.
