VOLGOGRAD, April 23 (Itar-Tass) — United Russia on Monday expelled acting Volgograd mayor Sergei Sokolov for "discrediting the Party, officials at United Russia's regional branch told Itar-Tass. No details were given.

Sokolov has been acting Volgograd mayor more than a year. On February 22, 2011, Anatoly Brovko, who was Volgograd region governor at the time, relieved the then Volgograd mayor Roman Grebennikov of his duties.
