YEKATERINBURG, April 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Small-size drone test flights will be complete in June-July 2012, First Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Sukhorukov said. In his words, the ministry will choose the best drone when the tests are complete.
Fifteen drone prototypes were presented to the ministry last year, and tests of ten drones continue now under the supervision of Armed Forces General Staff Deputy Chief Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov.
“Tests of assault drones will begin no earlier than in 2014,” Sukhorukov said. A contract with Sokol and Tranzas was signed in 2011 to design assault drones. “Works will be complete in 2014; so far they are on schedule,” he said.
