MOSCOW, April 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Up to 200 wildfires break out in Russia daily, Russian Emergency Situations Ministry Civil Defense Department Director Sergei Didenko said.

“Some 160-180 wildfires break out daily, but firefighting is rapid,” he said. “The human factor continues to play the negative role. Ninety-nine percent of all fires start by negligence, prank or carelessness. They begin far away from residential areas, but high winds fan the flame and it reaches homes across dry grass,” he said.
