Russian citizen found dead in Yokohama identified

The woman died of multiple knife wounds in the chest and stomach

MOSCOW, April 20 (Itar-Tass) —— A Russian citizen who died in Yokohama, Japan, has been identified as Khabarovsk native Anna Filimonova, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

“A dead woman was found in a Yokohama apartment on April 20. The local police identified her as Russian citizen Anna Filimonova, born in Khabarovsk in 1993,” it said.

“The embassy established contact with the dead woman’s family. Their arrival in Japan is being assisted. A consular worker was sent to Yokohama to clarify details of the death,” the ministry said.

The Japanese police have called the case a murder. They said the Russian woman died of multiple knife wounds in the chest and stomach. Neighbors told the police they heard somebody shouting in the girl’s apartment at night. The body was found by the girl’s acquaintances – citizens of Japan and Peru. They were taken to a police station for testifying. The police also search for the murder weapon, which the assailant might have dumped into a river.
