YEKATERINBURG, April 20 (Itar-Tass) —— The number of the Skolkovo research hun project participants has exceeded 400, Viktor Vekselberg, the chairman of the Skolkovo board of trustees, said on Friday.
“Results achieved in the past year are unexpected but inspiring,” he told journalists.
According to Vekselberg, it is planned that the number of residents will reach 500 in 2012. Last year’s expectations, in his words, were much more moderate – only 200 residents. “As of now, we have more than 400 participants,” he said and added that the expert panel, of whom a third are foreigners, is very selective in admitting new residents.
“The number of applicants exceeds 10,000,” he said. “As a matter of fact, we admit only about five percent of them.” This fact, in his words, points to a high potential of original ideas.
