BRUSSELS, April 19 (Itar-Tass) — Russia hopes that the resolutions of the NATO summit in Chicago on missile defence will not cancel possibilities for further cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“Recently the Russia-NATO Council has held the computer command-staff exercises on theatre missile defence. It proved the advantages of the joint work on building missile defence within the Russia-NATO format,” Lavrov said after a session of the Russia-NATO Council on Thursday.

“We hope that the decisions due to be taken at the upcoming NATO summit in Chicago will not cancel any possibility for further cooperation,” the Russian minister stressed.

All members of the Russia-NATO Council have confirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic region, Lavrov said. “Russia and NATO set sights on building strategic partnership. This task is rather real,” the minister said.
