Silver and gold mining in Russia grows

Gold mining in March 2012 went up by 4.2 percent on March 2011 and by three percent on February 2012

MOSCOW, April 18 (Itar-Tass) — Gold mining in Russia grew by 9.4 percent in January-March of 2012; silver mining increased by 23.9 percent on the same period in 2011, the Federal Service for State Statistics (Rosstat) reports without citing absolute indicators of the output.

Gold mining in March 2012 went up by 4.2 percent on March 2011 and by three percent on February 2012.

Silver mining increased 9.5 percent in March 2012 as compared with March 2011 and went up by 22.2 percent as compared with February 2012.

The output of unprocessed gold in ingots dropped 0.1 percent in January-March of 2012 as compared with the same period in 2011. The output of unprocessed gold in ingots decreased by 9.1 percent as compared with March 2011 and increased by 0.6 percent on February 2012.

Diamond mining in Russia dropped 19.1 percent in January-March 2012 as compared with the same period in 2011. Diamond mining in March 2012 decreased by 16 percent on March 2011 and went up by 17.6 percent as compared with February 2012.
