Regional forum of atomic industry suppliers ATOMEX North-West opens in Petersburg

The Unified Standard also envisages formation of the central arbitration committee for the procurement control

ST. PETERSBURG, April 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Key goals and topical tasks of the sustainable supplies of the facilities of the Russian Atomic Energy State Corporation Rosatom with the use of high technologies are in the focus of the regional forum of the atomic industry suppliers ATOMEX North-West, which opened in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

“The forum is aimed at the development of the competitive environment, expansion of the total number of suppliers of equipment and services, and the dialog between suppliers, sponsors and customers of the atomic industry,” Director of the Rosatom Procurement Department Rimas Zimonas said.

In his words, the new procurement policy made it possible to create the system of protection against unfair suppliers, which of huge importance during the ordering of equipment for the atomic energy industry’s facilities.

“In 2011, the sector’s economic effect reached 30 billion roubles [USD 1 = RUB 29.64] owing to the implementation of the Unified Standard and specialized open e-trading with the possibility to appeal their performing,” Zimonas said. In his words, the annual order program exceeds 450 billion roubles, while the percentage of appeals is too small.

“In all, the Rosatom procurement system was mapped out so that its rules are clear and everyone observe them. Participants can control the rules,” he noted.

The Unified Standard also envisages formation of the central arbitration committee for the procurement control. The committee is under the authority of the Rosatom director general.

An exhibition of the innovative equipment and devices, which are produced by the biggest companies of Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Moscow region and other machine building centres, opened at the LenExpo centre in the format of the regional forum, which will last till April 19.
