MOSCOW, April 16 (Itar-Tass) — Russia demands explanations from Iran over the reasons for arrest of two Russian citizens in Tehran, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
The condition of two Russians detained in Tehran and released on April 15 is unsatisfactory.
“On April 15 thanks to insistent efforts of the Russian embassy in Iran Russian citizens A. Kaisin and A. Romanenko, who worked on a contract with the Kazakh-Iranian company Zar-Kuh, were released,” the ministry said. “No concrete charges were brought against the detainees, while the reasons for their arrest on April 5 have not been explained so far.”
“At present, two Russians stay at one of Tehran’s hotels. Their physical condition is unsatisfactory,” the ministry said. “Officials of the embassy’s consular department handed over to our citizens necessary medicines. They will be examined by the embassy’s doctor as soon as possible.”
“We expect profound explanations from the Iranian authorities over this incident,” the source said.
