MOSCOW, April 16 (Itar-Tass) —— Georgia’s refusal to fulfil its commitments over the Treaty on Open Skies for Russia may ruin the treaty, spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said on Monday.

“From the practical point of view Georgia’s decision means that Georgia will not permit observation flights involving Russia over its territory,” the diplomat said. “This is a blatant violation of the Treaty on Open Skies, the 20th anniversary of signing the treaty was marked several weeks ago,” he said.

“Georgia’s actions lead to the violation of Russian rights under the treaty and create a dangerous instance, which along with a quite tense situation emerged in the Open Skies Consultative Commission, may ruin the Treaty on Open Skies,” Lukashevich underlined.
