Krasnoyarsk territory minister charged with large-scale fraud

Denis Pashkov was accused of fraud as investigators suspect him of being involved in the embezzlement of 29 million roubles

KRASNOYARSK, April 16 (Itar-Tass) — The Krasnoyarsk Territory’s industry and energy minister was charged with large-scale fraud, an aide for the head of the region’s investigative department, Olga Shamanskaya, told Itar-Tass on Monday.

Denis Pashkov was accused of fraud as investigators suspect him of being involved in the embezzlement of 29 million roubles allocated for Sibtyazhmash, Russian manufacturer of electrically-operated overhead traveling cranes and conveyors for mines.

Sibtyazhmash received 29 million roubles from the Krasnoyarsk Territory’s budget as a subsidy to compensate for expenditures for new equipment.

The region’s industry and energy ministry was chosen to control the use of funds.

The plant has been manufacturing industrial machinery for more than 50 years. Last year Sibtyazhmash was announced bankrupt, production was suspended and bankruptcy proceedings began.
