PYONGYANG, April 15 (Itar-Tass) — New North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un delivered his first speech before people on Sunday during a military parade on the occasion of the 100th birth date of his grandfather – Kim Il-Sung.

This is the first public address to the nation by the North Korean young leader.

Kim praised in his speech services and achievements of his grandfather – the founder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. “Our country has become a great world military power,” he also said. The speech by the young North Korean leader was 20-minute long. He confirmed in his speech determination to continue the policy of songun (priority of the army) in compliance with behests of Kim Jong-Il.

The late father of the present head of the North Korean state Kim Jong-Il made just a few personal addresses to people over his 17-year rule of the country.

The North Korean capital held a military parade on the occasion of the 100th birth date of the country’s “eternal president” Kim Il-Sung. Various military hardware and numerous regiments of the Korean People’s Army passed Pyongyang’s central square (named after Kim Il-Sung) to patriotic tunes of military marches.

Kim Jong-Un, Kim Il-Sung’s grandson and first secretary of the Korean Workers Party, the Korean Army supreme commander-in-chief and first chairman of the State Defence Committee, watched the parade from the VIP stand.

The abortive launching of the Shining Star-3 satellite from a cosmodrome in the country’s north-east did not mar the atmosphere in the North Korean capital, marking pompously the 100th birth date of Kim Il-Sung. Korean schoolchildren and students, donned in parade uniforms, lay down flowers these days at numerous mosaic panels and statues of Kim Il-Sung.

Numerous foreign reporters and delegations from various countries, including Russia, were invited for the festivities.
