MOSCOW, April 14 (Itar-Tass) — Statements on an inevitable failure of the mission by special envoy of the UN and the Arab League Kofi Annan nudges the opposition to continue armed struggle in Syria, said the Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
“Another item of our concern is skeptical statements by some capitals on an inevitable failure of Kofi Annan’s mission and his diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation in Syria and to establish political process,” the ministry noted.
“Such statements do not promote either implementation of the special envoy’s plan and efforts of interested countries on launching an inter-Syrian inclusive political dialogue.” Moreover, “they nudge the opposition to continue armed struggle, as a result of which people die and damage is wreaked on projects of Syrian infrastructure”.
