“An unregistered group of five tourists, all from St. Petersburg, was in the mountains near the Kirovsk populated area when the avalanche came down,” a spokesperson for the North-Western regional center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.

One tourist managed to phone a rescue service and call in rescue teams.
