Two Russians employed by Kazakh-Iranian JV arrested in Tehran

Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan informed of the incident the authorities concerned

MOSCOW, April 10 (Itar-Tass) —— Two Russian citizens, employees of a Kazakh-Iranian joint venture, have been detained in Tehran, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

“On April 5, a number of employees of the Zar Kuh Kazakh-Iranian joint venture specializing in gold mining were detained in Tehran. Among them there are two Russian citizens,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. “Russia’s embassy in Tehran in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s embassy has taken urgent measures to establish the whereabouts of the Russian citizens, to organize a meeting with them by officers of the consular department, and to find the reason for their arrest.”

“Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan informed of the incident the authorities concerned, including Iran’s Foreign Ministry where he sent a note requesting to organize a meeting of Russian consular officials with the detained Russian citizens. We are waiting for an answer,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
