MOSCOW, April 10 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has described as disastrous the number of businessmen brought to justice.
“We have in front of us some figures that undermine faith in the existence of a business-friendly climate,” he said at a meeting in the Open Government format.
In reply to one of the participants in the discussion Medvedev pointed to the remark one in six Russian businessmen had a past record of indictments.
“If that is true, then it is disaster,” Medvedev said. “I still believe that this figure is virtual.”
“If this figure includes inspections and checks, I might believe you. But if it is true that so many people were indicted on criminal charges, then this is a grave figure, indeed,” he believes.
