VLADIVOSTOK, April 10 (Itar-Tass) — In the city of Artyom, Primorsky (maritime) Territory, goalposts at a school stadium collapsed, killing a 14-year-old boy. Avrora Rimskaya, senior assistant to the chief of the regional inquiry department of the Investigation Committee of Russia, told Itar-Tass on Tuesday that the tragedy had occurred on Monday night.

In view of the boy's death, criminal proceedings have been instituted in accordance with a Penal Code article about "causing death through negligence, owing to an improper perfomance of professional duties by an authorized person concerned".

According to investigators, when playing football, the boy loosened the metallic goalposts which collapsed, inflicting a cranio-cerebral injury on the boy. An expert examination established that the injury was the cause of the boy's death.

"Within the scope of investigation of the criminal case, various avenues of inquiry are being pursued, including a juridical estimate of the actions of the officials who are responsible for equipment in the grounds of the school stadium," Rimskaya pointed out.
