MEXICO, April 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Nicaraguan Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce Orlando Solorzano praised highly relief supplies of Russia wheat in Nicaragua. He told Itar-Tass by phone on Sunday about “broad prospects” of development of Nicaraguan-Russian relations in various spheres.
“Russian wheat supplies are very important for broader bilateral relations,” Solorzano, who headed the ceremony to receive the second batch of Russian wheat, said. “This is a very large contribution (in the development of relations between the countries)” that promotes quite substantially the development of the bread baking industry in the republic, the minister said in comments of the delivery of 24,800 tonnes of wheat grain, which were brought to the Nicaraguan port Corinto on the Pacific coast of the country. Last November the first Russian wheat batch of a total of 25,600 tonnes was delivered to the Central American republic.
“We confirm the high quality of Russian wheat to other countries in Central America and the whole world,” Solorzano noted. He recalled that before the delivery of the first Russian wheat batch to Nicaragua “officials of several enterprises criticized its quality in advance, but now they do not make such statements.”
Speaking on the situation in Nicaraguan-Russian relations in general, Solorzano noted that “the cooperation between the two countries continues to expand” that was obviously showed in the results of the intergovernmental commission, which had a meeting in Moscow at the beginning of the year. “Nicaragua intends firmly to develop long-term relations with Russia,” the minister pointed out.
Solorzano also asked to convey “cordial words of gratitude to Russia on behalf of the Nicaraguan people, President Daniel Ortega and the government” for a very important assistance, which Russia gives to the Central American republic.
