TSKHINVAL, April 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Chairperson of the South Ossetian Central Elections Commission Bella Pliyeva congratulated Leonid Tibilov on election as president on Monday. “Accept my congratulations, though the official election results will be made public on Monday,” Pliyeva told Tibilov at the CEC information centre, where the presidential candidate arrived.
The South Ossetian CEC made public the election results after 91% of votes were counted. “According to the results from 77 polling stations, Leonid Tibilov gained 53.67% of votes, David Sanakoyev – 42.99%,” Pliyeva noted.
Tibilov congratulated the republican people on the elections declared valid. “I congratulate the people of South Ossetia, which was participating actively in the elections. The most important thing today is that these elections were found valid. The people got tired, but they are wise and could elect the president. I congratulate all people and not only those who voted for Leonid Tibilov, but also for David Sanakoyev,” he said, adding that his main goal at the post of the president will be the consolidation of all residents of South Ossetia.
