Area of Siberian forest fires nearly halved over past day

The human factor is the main cause of the forest fires

KRASNOYARSK, April 8 (Itar-Tass) —— The number of forest fires in Siberia was cut by 1.5 times over the past day, with the forest fire area nearly halved. There were 23 forest fires on 962.8 hectares in the morning. Seven fires of 789.8 hectares were confined, a source in the Siberian regional center of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass.

“Two large fires of 703.8 hectares are burning in the Kyakhtinsky district of Buryatia and the Shilkinsky district of the trans-Baikal territory. Both fires are confined. There is no threat of their spreading into populated areas,” the source said.

The human factor is the main cause of the forest fires.
