WASHINGTON, April 7 (Itar-Tass) —— A group of Russian cardiologists has arrived in the United States to study experience of the US health system. Chief Doctor of the District Cardiologic Clinic “Center of diagnostics and cardio-vascular surgery” of Ygra (city of Syurgut) Irina Urvantseva told ITAR-TASS about her impressions of the trip and its program on Thursday.
“Our main task is to familiarize ourselves with the system of medical aid to people with cardio-vascular diseases in the United States. We already studied the American model and would like to see how it is realized in practice,” Urvantseva said.
According to Urvantseva, the Russian delegation has already visited six clinics in the city of Cleveland (Ohio) where a round-table meeting was held. During the meeting, Russian doctors discussed with the leadership of local medical centers issues of work organization. In the coming days, other similar events are to be held.
Urvantseva described the fact that medicine in America is considered to be a business process and is built as a system which should work for the patient as the main impression. She also singled out the level of material and technical equipping and the degree of professional training of American doctors and medical personnel. Besides, according to her, they were surprised that clinics there are actually fashionable hotels where the interior, design and quality of medical service enable people to recover as soon as possible.
The given trip was held on the invitation of the Russian American Medical Association uniting Russian-speaking doctors working in the United States. As its executive director Olga Osipoff explained, it is important that people could familiarize themselves with experience of the world medical practice. “In future, we hope to render aid to Russian citizens with the help of medical missions with the participation US doctors who are ready to share their knowledge with Russian specialists,” she said.
