NIZHNY NOVGOROD, April 6 (Itar-Tass) — Passengers on the bus that got into a road accident in the Nizhny Novgorod region, will be sent home soon. The press service of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s (EMERCOM department for the region told Itar-Tass that the MANN bus has arrived from Yoshkar-Ola for them to the Bokovaya village where they are temporarily accommodated in a private hotel.

The Health Ministry of the Republic of Mari El told Itar-Tass that a motorcade has been dispatched for the transportation of the injured passengers. It consists of an ambulance car with emergency aid team and a command vehicle for the transportation to Yoshkar-Ola of the people not seriously injured.

The Republican Clinical Hospital is preparing to receive the injured. “A brigade of trauma specialists will work there – they will check the condition of all the arriving patients and decide which treatment they need,” the Health Ministry said. According to the ministry, 23 people from among those injured in the road accident are in a state of mild to moderate severity.

In addition, the ministry said, the issue of the transportation of one injured passenger to the Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Hospital by sanitary aviation is considered.

On Friday, a bus travelling on the route from Moscow to Yoshkar-Ola, due to poor road conditions collided with a timber truck at around 04:00 a.m. on the 112th kilometre of the Nizhny Novgorod - Kirov highway near the Bokovaya village in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 250 kilometres from Yoshkar-Ola. The bus carried 47 passengers. As a result of the accident, two men - the truck driver and a passenger of the bus - were killed on the spot. Another man died later in hospital.

About 30 people were injured. Currently, two people in a critical condition are undergoing treatment at the Semenovskaya district hospital of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Medics have diagnosed one of them with a probable spinal fracture, and the second patient – with fractures and traumatic brain injury. Two more injured are undergoing treatment at the Voskresenskaya district hospital with minor injuries.

According to the traffic police reports, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, as one of the versions of the accident suggests.
