MOSCOW, April 6 (Itar-Tass) —— From the beginning of the year 13 gunmen, including warlord Magarbi Timiraliyev, were destroyed in Chechnya, Chechen Interior Minister Ruslan Alkhanov said at an emergency meeting of the leadership of agencies and departments of the ministry on Friday.
Over 20 people were detained, two gunmen were talked into voluntary surrender, he said.
Ruslan Alkhanov noted that the tendency for further stabilization of the operational situation persists in Chechnya after first three months of this year, the press service of the republican ministry reported. He recalled that the main task, which Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov set for the law enforcement agencies at the beginning of the year, is the final destruction of remaining gunmen.
Meanwhile, Alkhanov pointed to some offences by police in some spheres and several chiefs of territorial police departments were disciplined. The Chechen interior minister urged to intensify the efforts to find gunmen and their accomplices and curb the spreading of any acts of terrorism and extremism.
