GORKI, April 4 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the government to organize a G8 summit in 2014 at Moscow’s Skolkovo Innovation Centre.

“I believed and I do believe now that we must present the best examples of what we have. I hope Skolkovo will be one of such examples,” the president said at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladislav Surkov on Wednesday, April 4.

“If the government has made the calculations [for the project] and is ready to start implementing it, we can move in this direction,” Medvedev said.

He promised to give similar instructions to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

Medvedev believes that the G8 summit “should be interesting” and that the chosen venue “is a good idea”.

Surkov said the government has “analysed” the possibility of holding the summit at Skolkovo. “This is a challenging task, the deadline is strict, and constant funding is needed. But if such a political decision is adopted, we are ready [to do it] and this can be done,” Surkov said.
