Interstate Aviation Committee starts investigating ATR-72 plane crash

“Panoramic filming of the crash site has been done,” a Committee representative said

MOSCOW, April 3 (Itar-Tass) —— The Interstate Aviation Committee has begun to investigate the ATR-72 plane crash, a Committee representative told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“Panoramic filming of the crash site has been done,” he said. The Interstate Aviation Committee’s Technical Commission is working together with the Russian Interior Ministry.

The ATR-72 passenger jetliner of UTair headed for Surgut crashed near Tyumen at 5:44 a.m. on April 2. According to the latest reports, the crash killed 31 people. Twelve survivors were taken to the hospital, including two on the critical list.

Meanwhile, a coordination council has been formed in Tyumen to monitor the investigation progress. The council will enable the families of people killed and injured in the plane crash to stick together, to hear the latest news and to monitor the criminal proceedings.
