MOSCOW, April 3 (Itar-Tass) — The fire in the East Tower of the Federation complex at the Moscow International Business Centre (Moscow- City) could have been cause by thermal effects of a floodlight mounted on a wooden form, the city police told Itar-Tass.

“The preliminary cause of the fire – is thermal effects of a floodlight mounted on a combustible material used for covering the timber shuttering,” the source said.

The fire occurred at about 20:00 MSK on Monday. Construction materials and insulation at an area of ··50 square metres caught fire on the 66-67th floors. Fire fighters climbed there on foot. However, the fire spread rapidly, completely covering two floors, including the outer part, where outdoor advertising panels and scaffolding also caught fire. It took fire fighters 4 hours to extinguish the blaze.
