Policeman killed by unknown gunmen in Kabardino-Balkaria

NALCHIK, April 3 (Itar-Tass) — District police officer of the local department of the Russian Interior Ministry, Lieutenant Zamir Tlekushaev, 37, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the village of Islamei of the Baksan region of Kabardino-Balkaria in an armed attack on Monday night, the press service of the republican Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“It has been established that the bandits fired from two spots at the GAZ-3110 vehicle with the district police officer standing at the roadside. The officer died of wounds on the spot,” the press service reported. The Vulkan-3 interception plan was activated in the territory of the Baksan district, a search and investigation team is working at the scene. Police have found there 13 cartridges of 7.62 mm, and four 5.45 mm calibre cartridges. They were sent to criminal expertise centre of the republic’s Interior Ministry.

Criminal proceedings were instituted over the murder under RF Criminal Code articles “encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer” and “Illegal arms trafficking.”
