Gazprom buys over 6 bcm of Central Asia gas for spot sales on European market

Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom bought 6.474 billion cubic metres of natural gas produced in Central Asia in the first three months of the current year

MOSCOW, April 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom bought 6.474 billion cubic metres of natural gas produced in Central Asia in the first three months of the current year, the central department of the fuel-and-energy sector said in its report on Monday.

Proceeding from the document, the purchased gas will be used by Gazprom for further sale on the European market under the spot contracts.

In January-March 2012, Gazprom gas purchases for the purpose decreased by 212 million cubic metres as compared to the same period of 2011, the central department said.

In March, the purchases of Central Asia’s gas for the spot sales in Europe were at the level of 2011 and amounted to 2.682 billion cubic metres.
