YEREVAN, April 2 (Itar-Tass) — Two groups of the Syrian opposition will arrive in Moscow shortly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
After a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Monday, Lavrov said, “We maintain regular contacts with the Syrian National Council and national coordinating committees, which act as the opposition inside Syria, and other opposition members, who live in Syria and outside it.”
“We are planning to receive another two delegations shortly. They represent different parts of the opposition,” Lavrov added.
“We are contacting with the Syrian government every day. We are doing our best to take effective and quick steps in response to the plan by U.N./LAS Special Envoy Kofi Annan. We also want such signal to be given by our Western partners and certain Arab countries towards armed groups, which are struggling on the Syrian land,” he stressed.
