ST. PETERSBURG, April 2 (Itar-Tass) — The fire at the Petropavlovskaya Fortress in St. Petersburg is brought under control, a source at the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Petersburg city department told Itar-Tass.
A duty operator received the information about the fire on Zayachy Island at 10:55 Moscow time. The blaze broke out in the Leto restaurant which is under reconstruction. The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes. In the 1,200-sq-m building, 300 sq m of storerooms burned up.
The work to extinguish the blaze is continuing.
The historic sites were not damaged. Nobody was hurt, the source said.
