Urlashov wins Yaroslavl mayoral elections

According to the preliminary information, Urlashov won 69.65 percent of the votes

YAROSLAVL, April 2 (Itar-Tass) — Municipality deputy Yevgeny Urlashov won a convincing victory in the Yaroslavl mayoral elections that were held on Sunday, a city election commission source said on Monday.

Urlashov and businessman Yakov Yakushev competed in the election runoff.

According to the preliminary information, Urlashov won 69.65 percent of the votes, and Yakushev had 27.78 percent.

Over 40 percent of the city's electorate participated in the vote.

More than 1,000 people from various parties and movements, including from the capital, monitored the voting process.

About 40 complaints about violations in the elections were received by the police during the day. All will be considered, the Yaroslavl police press service said.
