Udaltsov not to participate in meeting with Medvedev

Udaltsov motivated his denial to participate in the meeting that the format of the event allegedly does not envisage a concrete dialogue

MOSCOW, April 2 (Itar-Tass) — The leader of the Left Front movement Sergei Udaltsov stated that he will not participate in a meeting between President Dmitry Medvedev and representatives of unregistered political parties due on Monday, the press service of the Left Front reported.

Udaltsov motivated his denial to participate in the meeting that the format of the event allegedly does not envisage a concrete dialogue and the exchange of views and “no discussion of a political reform is planned at the Kremlin on April 2.”

“I always called for the constructive dialogue between the authorities and the opposition, but I find it senseless to participate in a formal event as “a silent Kremlin decoration,” Udaltsov said, though the latter earlier planned to participate in this meeting.

Meanwhile, the Left Front intends to continue the participation in the working group to finalize a draft political reform in Russia. This working group was formed after the first meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and representatives of the non-system opposition on February 20. “We will fight for a full-fledged political reform, we joined the working group for this,” Udaltsov underlined.
