85 anglers rescued from ice-floe off Sakhalin, torn away from coastal ice

KHABAROVSK, April 1 (Itar-Tass) — Rescuers saved 85 anglers from an ice-floe off Sakhalin, torn away from coastal ice. People were brought to the coast by small boats, Itar-Tass learnt at the Far Eastern regional centre of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies.

All anglers are safe and sound.

The ministry’s helicopter had arrived at the place of the incident. The crew inspected the ice-floe area and started evacuating fishermen, said representative of the press service of the Far Eastern regional centre Yekaterina Potvorova. The rescue operation is going on.
