PYONGYANG, April 1 (Itar-Tass) — The main aim of the US strategy in the Asia-Pacific region is to gain military superiority, says an article in the North Korean leading newspaper Rodong Sinmun, published this Sunday.
To materialize its strategic tasks, the newspaper writes, the US “pins great hopes on the tripartite military alliance with the participation of Japan and South Korea”. They are already mount joint war games “to put pressure on potential enemies”.
The newspaper stresses that the US attaches much importance to the Korean Peninsula in compliance with its strategic plans whose aim is “to achieve political and military advantage in North Eastern Asia where interests of major powers clash”.
However, Washington’s stake on cementing military relations with “the South Korean puppet regime and reactionary forces of Japan is futile”. Rodong Sinmun reckons that it is high time for the US “to make a correct choice and review its hostile stance towards the DPRK”.
