MAKHACHKALA, March 31 (Itar-Tass) ——Two police officers died as a result of fire on their car in the Dagestani city of Khasavyurt. As ITAR-TASS learnt at the Interior Ministry for Dagestan, “at 00.40 Moscow time, two unidentified attackers opened fire on a VAZ-21730 car carrying two police officers of the city of Khasavyurt.”
According to the ministry, one police officer died from bullet wounds on the spot, and another one died at hospital.
After the attack, the criminals seized a VAZ-21-6 car of a local resident in a near-by street under the threat of using weapons and disappeared. Later on they abandoned the car two kilometers from the settlement of Pokrovskoye of the Khasavyurt region.
Cartridge cases of 7.62- and 9-mm caliber were found at the site of the incident.
Criminal proceedings were instituted.
