VIENNA, March 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Hungarian President Pal Schmitt has no intention to resign, as follows from what the head of state said himself in a televised interview on Friday.

The possibility of his resignation surfaced after Schmitt proved responsible for plagiarism in writing his dissertation in 1992. The University of Budapest stripped him of his PhD on Thursday.

Schmitt said he would not resign because he saw no link between his presidency and the dissertation he wrote 20 years ago.
