BRUSSELS, March 30 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine and the European Union initialled on Friday the text of the association agreement, while the date of the signing has not been fixed as of yet. The document was inked by Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin and Miroslav Lajcak, the managing director for Russia, the Eastern Neighbourhood and the western Balkans in the European External Action Service, on behalf of the EU.
Both sides admitted earlier that the initialling of the document is a purely technical stage, which means that Kiev and Brussels agree with provisions of the agreement, but which does not mean their readiness to sign it.
