PERM, March 30 (Itar-Tass) — The criminal case was opened against two Perm policemen, who are suspected of shooting a detainee in the leg during the interrogation, a source in the territorial investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Friday, noting that the criminal case was opened for the abuse of power.
“The criminal case was opened on Thursday against two policemen, who passed the reclassification and became policemen in 2011. The Leninsky investigation department is investigating the criminal case,” the source said.
Criminal detectives from Perm, namely the senior lieutenant and the captain of police are suspected of beating a murder suspect during the interrogation on January 24, 2010 and then shot him in the leg from the service gun. The doctors gave the necessary aid to the man, but the police chiefs were not informed about an incident at the interrogation.
The society has been discussing actively the high-profile cases of torturing the detainees by policemen recently. The most blatant cases is the death of a 15-year-old teenager after beating at the St. Petersburg police station and the death of a detainee in Kazan Sergei Nazarov, who was also tortured in the police.
