TOKYO, March 30 (Itar-Tass) — Japanese Defense Minister Naoki Tanaka ordered on Friday to shoot down a North Korean rocket which is planned to be launched in April in case it poses a threat to the Japanese territory.
The order to Self-Defense Forces to intercept the rocket or its debris was issued after a meeting of the Security Council of Japan chaired by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.
Kyodo News said the Ground Self-Defense Force is to deploy its helicopter rescue personnel, who are trained to handle disasters, to areas where the rocket is likely to fly over.
