SOCHI, March 29 (Itar-Tass) — The special committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation headed by Vice-President Kalervo Kummola visited the grand ice arena in Sochi, where an ice hockey tournament will be held at the Winter Olympics in 2014. The experts valued highly this sport facility, the press service of the Olympstroy state-run corporation told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
“The arena is perfect. The arena interior should be finished, but from the outside it already looks perfect, the square in front of the palace of sport is impressive,” Olympstroy quoted secretary of the committee Cornelia Ljungberg as saying.
The builders are completing the construction of a demonstration rink. The grand ice arena will have a training rink along with a demonstration rink. The mounting of a media facade is in full swing. The media facade will be made of 38,000 laser diode modules. The media facade will make it possible to broadcast any graphical images in the night time.
The construction of the grand ice arena will be completed already this year and the ice hockey players will test it immediately.
