NEW DELHI, March 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian meds has been awarded the title of professor emeritus of Jawaharlal Nehru University in India.
The university’s Academic Council convened for a special meeting on Wednesday, March 28, in connection with Medvedev’s arrival for a BRICS summit.
The Russian leader appeared in the conference hall, accompanied by the rector, with a white scarf of a guest of honour.
In his welcoming speech, Minister for Human Resource Development and Communications and Information Technologies Kapil Sibal recalled that Medvedev had gone a long way from a law department teacher to president.
He spoke of Medvedev not only as a statesman who proposed a new philosophy of modernisation in Russia, but also as a person who practices yoga.
When presenting Medvedev to the audience, a university prorector noted that he represents a great nation that is a close friend of India.
While paying him respect, Jawaharlal Nehru University, which was founded as a monument to Nehru to embody his ideals, pays respect to a thinker, a statesman and a swami,” she said.
After that, the white scarf was taken off the president to be replaced with a yellow one, the symbol of the university. He was also given the diploma of professor emeritus and a souvenir – the bust of Jawaharlal Nehru.
